Two caregiver pilots were launched in June 2019, and the Home Child Care Provider Pilot is one of them. This pathway is designed for foreign nationals with work experience in NOC 4411. It was designed to bring Home Child Care Providers to Canada on temporary work permits and the applicants were given the additional benefit of applying for Permanent Residency after gaining enough work experience.
The new programs amend two main issues with the previous caregiver pilot programs:
In addition to the Home Child Care Support Pilot, the government is also introducing the Home Support Worker Pilot. These two pilots are expected to be similar, with the Home Support Worker targeting those with experience in NOC 4412 rather than NOC 4411.
