Federal Skilled Worker

The Federal Skilled Worker is one of the three programs within Canada’s Express Entry System for the processing of the Permanent Residency applicants. The programs within the Express Entry system are highly competitive and all of them use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank the individual applicants applying under the programs.

Federal Skilled Worker Program Requirements

In order to be eligible under the Federal Skilled Worker programs, the applicant has to fulfil a few minimum requirements in terms of work experience, level of education, age, and English or French language proficiency. These are as follows:

• Work Experience
1. At least 12-months of continuous, full-time, skilled work experience completed within the previous 10 years (or an equal amount in part-time experience).
2. Skilled work experience refers to experience classified under NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B.

• Language Proficiency
1. Reach a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 on an approved English or French language test.

• Education
1. A minimum of a Canadian high school diploma or the equivalent in foreign education.

• Financial Support
1. Enough funds to support themselves and any spouse and/or children in settlement in Canada.

• Residence in Canada
1. Must intend to live outside of the province of Quebec.
